Rodney E. Thompson, Ph.D. founded REThompson & Associates in 2000, a consulting firm specializing in helping clients develop, manufacture and commercialize their biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical products. This business was renamed BioPharm Process Associates in 2006 to reflect the diversity of projects undertaken and the larger number of individual consultants involved.
Dr. Thompson has worked on product and process development for therapeutics, vaccines and medical devices manufactured under cGMP throughout his careerleading the definition, scale-up and manufacture of these regulated products. He has worked with large antibodies and proteins, as well as peptides and small-molecule drugs. Dr. Thompson has directed the process development and production of numerous pharmaceutical clinical trial supply materials and commercial products.
He has defined and implemented process control and material management systems.
Prior to founding REThompson & Associates, Dr. Thompson held Director-level positions in process development/manufacturing at Aviron, InSite Vision and Applied Immune Sciences, and performed biopurification process development/scale-up/technology transfer at Chiron, XOMA and Kodak Research. He managed the development and process implementation for eight different pharmaceutical products. Dr. Thompson received
a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of California-Berkeley and graduated first in his class with a B.S. from the Cornell University School of Chemical Engineering.
